Rebecca Froese's work focuses on social engagement for social-ecological transformation, embedded in larger questions of justice, social cohesion, democracy, and conflict transformation. One of her current projects focuses on conflicts and violent structures in society's coping with polycrisis, with a particular focus on land conflicts; another explores artistic methods for creating spaces for dialogue for conflict transformation in the context of social-ecological transformation. Rebecca completed her PhD at the intersection of peace and conflict studies and environmental sciences on topics of social cohesion, land conflicts, and social-ecological tipping points in the southwestern Amazon.

Rebecca holds an MSc in Integrated Climate System Sciences from the University of Hamburg and a BSc in Geosciences from the University of Bremen. She also studied at the University of Victoria, Canada, and worked as a consultant for international cooperation in Belgrade, Serbia, and Hamburg, Germany, focusing on climate change, sustainable urban development, sustainability, governance, nature conservation, biodiversity, and land conflicts.
