Sustainability Platform BB - Pilot Phase
Duration
The Platform for Sustainability in Brandenburg will serve as a forum for discussion and an effective and inclusive network for the many different sustainability initiatives in the federal state of Brandenburg. It was founded in January 2019 and is funded by Brandenburg's Ministry for Agriculture, the Environment and Climate Protection. The Platform's secretariat is based at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies. It coordinates the day-to-day work of the Platform, manages the Platform website, and develops innovative networking formats.
Connecting Brandenburgs Sustainability Leaders
An annual Plenum attended by the most important sustainability players in Brandenburg is the highlight in the Platform's calendar. It is convened by the Steering Group comprising 20 representatives from civil society, the private sector, science, local government, social organisations, trade unions, and consumer associations in Brandenburg. The plenum is an opportunity for the different actors to get to know each other, make connections, realise potential synergies, and initiate joint projects.
In the spirit of "unity in diversity", the Platform strives in its discussions to take the specific circumstances of the different actors into account while at the same time emphasising the objectives and operating conditions they have in common. These discussions can add momentum to the process of implementing the state government's sustainability strategy.
Raising awareness of sustainability
The Platform also sees its role in raising public awareness of sustainability and highlighting precisely what needs to be done to achieve the goals of the sustainability strategy.
